Zoe Ends Cross Country Season with a Win

Zoe Gilbody at the National Primary & Year 7 Cross Country Final

Bridgnorth Endowed student, Zoe Gilbody, took first place in the Year 7 girls’ race at the National Primary & Year 7 Cross Country Final held at Prestwold Hall near Loughborough on Saturday.

She fought off tough competition in the first half of the 2.7km race, battling with a runner from Buckinghamshire, but then created a gap in the last kilometre to win by 12 seconds

This result caps off a brilliant end to the season for Zoe and follows an outstanding performance at the British Modern Biathlon Schools Championships, which took place in Crystal Palace the week before.

In fact, both Gilbody girls shone at the event. In the Under 13 Girls, Zoe achieved the fastest run time of all 130 competitors in her age group, with points from her swim time producing an aggregate score that placed her second overall.

Charlotte, in the Under 16 Girls’ category, came 14th overall, achieving the fifth fastest run time for her 1600-metre race.

Congratulations to Zoe and Charlotte on their fantastic achievements during this year’s cross country season.
