The School Council is a good example of how student voice can effect change – and quickly.
Our School Council is a fair, representative body of students, interviewed and selected by our serving House Captains to ensure that they reflect the thoughts and feelings of all.
Each tutor group elects a representative who meets with the House Captain and reps from the other tutor groups in their house, to share the agenda items that the School Council needs to discuss.
House Captains then meet together to determine an agenda for a full School Council meeting. This is shared with every form to ensure that their representative forwards their views to their House Captain or School Council Representatives prior to the full School Council meeting.
School Council meetings are held at The Mayors Parlours or the Town Hall, and are regularly attended by Senior Leaders in the school, who can help to action the strategies and solutions the Council suggest.
Notable School Council improvements include:
- Renovation of toilet facilities
- Development of the Snack Shack
- Refurbishment of the dining room service
- School uniform changes
- Additional picnic benching
- New lockers
- Introduction of the school hoody
The School Council strives to meet termly but may hold extra meetings where necessary.
