Fantastic Season for Year 7 Girls’ Netball Squad

The Year 7 girls’ netball team are celebrating a fantastic season that culminated in them winning the County Plate Tournament at Haberdashers’ Abraham Darby in Telford last week.

The girls started the year at Condover Hall for a weekend of netball and adventure activities, which gave them a boost as it was very clear that they had plenty of potential.

The early season matches went well with some wins and some losses, however, they were noticeably improving their skills at club practices each week.

The team played superbly in the Telford Winter League and ended up as finalists. Four of the girls โ€“ Leila Harvey, Daisy Brassington, Niamh Ford and Esther Carvel โ€“ went on to be selected for the Shropshire County Netball Squad.

To complete their run of success, the team then won the area tournament, which sent them through to represent East Shropshire at the School Games County Finals. The girls were eventually placed third, with their only loss against the eventual winners, Wrekin College.

However, the pinnacle of their season has to be at the County Plate Tournament where they put on a fantastic performance, playing teams from all around Shropshire and winning in a thrilling final against Ludlow School.

Congratulations to the team on such a great season and keep up the training over the summer ready for September.
