Year 11 students at Bridgnorth Endowed learned about the exciting opportunities on offer at Thomas Telford School, during a presentation held last Thursday.

Mrs Flynn, the Deputy Head and Head of Careers, guided the students through all aspects they need to consider when deciding on what’s best for them after GCSE.

The Thomas Telford Sixth form is within a school setting, which works well for those who prefer a more formal structure, and, as well as lessons, students are able to carry out independent study, take part in enrichment activities and enjoy sport during the school day.

The school, which is sponsored by The Mercers’ Company and Tarmac Holdings, boasts excellent sports facilities and a swimming pool, plus a wide range of societies and clubs to suit most tastes.

Careers advice is particularly strong, with four full-time dedicated in-house members of staff to provide effective programmes for each student.

The curriculum offers considerable breadth for students through a range of academic A Levels and vocational BTEC and Cambridge National courses. In fact, there are 25 A Level subjects and seven BTEC courses available.

Students joining the school are assigned to one of four academies; Academic, Business, Sport, or Performing Arts. These give access to specialist masterclasses, information and events.

At the end of the presentation, Mrs Flynn introduced a special guest that had come along with her. Megan Heath, a former Bridgnorth Endowed student, is currently in Year 13 at Thomas Telford and has just accepted a place at the University of Oxford to read English.

Megan told students: “I’m having a brilliant time at Thomas Telford – I love the school and the teachers. I feel very supported and had lots of help with my Oxbridge application.”

Applications for September 2019 are now open and once your form has been received, the school will write to you to invite you to an Information Evening on Monday 28 January 2019 at 7pm.
