We’re delighted to share the news that a second Bridgnorth Endowed School pupil was presented with a Young Good Citizen award by West Mercia Police last Thursday evening.
Logan Pope, from Year 9, received the award from Sergeant Kate Øen and PCSO Mandy Leek for a long list of merits, including fundraising, volunteering and, most importantly, being involved in the care of his sister Esti, who has autism.
Mum Pippa explained: “Logan and Esti have always been very close so it’s not something that’s expected of him, it’s something that comes naturally. We call him her ‘interpreter of life’.”
“We’re so proud of him and he definitely deserves this award as he has a big heart and is always thinking of others despite his own struggles.”
Logan also finds the time to volunteer at a local youth club and every year, since the age of 7, he has come up with a new fundraising project.
Back in March 2020, Logan completed a two-hour pianothon and raised over £500 playing all sorts of tunes, from the Entertainer to Land of Hope and Glory, and plenty of songs from the hit musical Les Misérables.
The money went to the Little Rascals Foundation – a Shropshire-based charity that supports children with disabilities and their families, and a cause that’s close to Logan’s heart.
About the charity, Pippa said: “Little Rascals is a fabulous organisation that provides practical support for children with special educational needs, and an ear for their parents. They just ‘get it’ which is crucial for families like ours.”
This year, Logan organised a fundraiser where people could request a song for a donation, and he then played their song choice on the piano.
A keen piano player whose piano was on its last legs, he raised money for a new digital piano and still managed to donate £200 to Little Rascals.
Well done to Logan on his fantastic achievements.
