Bridgnorth Endowed School is celebrating the news that three of its Year 11 students have been selected to join the prestigious Shropshire County Cricket ‘Emerging Player Programme’.

Niall McAdam, Ben Parker and Joe Smallman, who play cricket for Bridgnorth and Worfield Cricket Clubs, will benefit from expert coaching at Shrewsbury School’s specialist indoor cricket facility.

Shropshire Cricket Board’s performance manager, Ed Ashlin, said: “’Niall, Ben and Joe all thoroughly deserve their place on this programme.”

“They should be congratulated on their hard work, dedication and willingness to learn, over the past few years of being involved within the Shropshire Age Group Pathway.”

“All three boys will benefit from this opportunity and we look forward to supporting them in the future.”

Joe has also been named as the U15 County Player of the Year and Phil Lloyd, from the Shropshire Cricket Board, reported: “Joe was selected as he led the talented Under 15 team with outstanding maturity and no little skill.”

“The team reached the national quarter finals, where they narrowly lost out to eventual winners Yorkshire at the iconic Scarborough Cricket Club this summer.”

“Joe led from the front with his performances, scoring 373 runs – an average of 41 – and an impressive season’s best of 122 not out.”

Well done to Joe, Niall and Ben.
