Bake Off to Celebrate European Languages Day

Bake off winners (left to right): Ben Arch, Evie Power and Milly Williams

Last Wednesday saw the much-loved annual bake off contest to mark the European Day of Languages, which celebrated its 20th anniversary this year.

The Modern Foreign Languages’ Department at Bridgnorth Endowed got behind the day by asking pupils to bake European-inspired cakes and Evie Power from Year 8 was chosen as the star baker.

Evie came up with the clever idea of creating a Victoria sponge suitcase cake adorned with flags and judge, Mrs Lowden, said: “A lot of thought had gone into this design and the judges loved the creativity shown.”

Ben Arch (Year 9) came second with his beautiful Italian flag cake, and third place went to Milly Williams (Year 8) for her Victoria sponge filled with homemade jam and decorated in the colours of the German flag.

Neve Crann and Martha Bradburn, both from Year 8, were highly commended for their entries and all of the cakes were sold at lunchtime, raising £50 for charity. Well done to everyone who took part!
