Year 9 Budding Entrepreneurs Inspired at Enterprise Conference

Year 9 BES students at the Shrewsbury School Enterprising Futures Conference

A group of Year 9 students with a keen interest in business recently joined peers from local secondary schools to take part in the annual Enterprising Futures Conference, held at Shrewsbury School last Friday.

The day kicked off with an inspiring keynote address by Hollie Whittles, an award-winning TEDx speaker, author, and director at the global data analytics and AI consultancy, Purple Frog Systems.

Hollie, who also holds director roles at PowerBI Sentinel and Fraggleworks in both the UK and the US, shared her entrepreneurial journey and offered invaluable advice on navigating the world of business in today’s rapidly evolving digital age.

Students then had the opportunity to hear introductions from a range of business owners and entrepreneurs, each offering a unique perspective on their areas of expertise.

Interactive workshops followed, covering a host of thought-provoking topics such as creating a brand, developing personal character, and finding your entrepreneurial spark — all designed to give students insight as they begin to think about life after school.

To round things off, there was a lively Q&A session, where students’ questions were answered by the panel of experts, covering everything from overcoming business challenges to how they got to where they are today.

Reflecting on the day, Miss Edwards, Bridgnorth Endowed’s Careers Lead, commented: “It was wonderful to see our students thoroughly engaged throughout the day. Opportunities like this are so important for helping young people explore what’s possible beyond the classroom.”

Many thanks to Shrewsbury School for hosting a fantastic event that left our students motivated and full of ideas for the future.
