Year 9 Battles It Out at BES Sports Day

Joint winners, Hardwicke and Rowley, accepting the Sports Day Trophy

Despite all other year groups needing to self-isolate this week, Year 9 stepped up to the plate on Wednesday afternoon and fought hard to compete for the prized Sports Day Trophy.

Under the banners of the school’s three houses, students took part in a variety of sports, including football, team tennis, high jump, javelin, tug of war and more.

Defending champions, Hardwicke House, led by Mr Middleton, were looking to fend off the challenge from Mr Akhtar’s valiant Washbrook team and Mr Chase’s Rowley reds.

After a close-run contest, Hardwicke and Rowley were announced as joint winners, which means the yellow and red house colours will now sit side by side on the Sports Day Trophy for the coming year.

Well done to everyone who took part!
