On Wednesday, Bridgnorth Endowed Under 13’s Boys made the short trip to Oldbury Wells for, what was to be, a thrilling and entertaining derby game.
Oldbury Wells took the lead with an unstoppable free kick that left Year 7 student, Zac Prior, no chance.
Zac went on to make an impact by saving a penalty when Taylor had been adjudged to have his hands in an unnatural position.
Midfield duo, Sam Thomas and Ed Richardson, continued to provide opportunities for the ever-ready Dylan Delamare and debutant Reece Owen, from Year 7.
Bridgnorth Endowed got their reward when Owen raced on to a Richardson through-ball. It looked like it was the keeper’s but Owen applied some pressure and nicked the ball away.
Thomas Claydon’s follow up was well-saved by the keeper, only for Jamie Onions to chip the keeper and covering defenders, and ensure honours were even in this festive fixture.
The final score was Oldbury Wells 1-1 Bridgnorth Endowed.
Team captain, Jimmy Taylor, said: “We intercepted the ball and played well as a team. We’d like to thank Oldbury Wells School for taking part.”
