‘Routes into Languages’ Christmas E-card Competition

Welsh language Christmas card designed by Rosie Bryan in Year 7

Modern Foreign Language students from Years 7 and 8 recently took part in a Christmas card competition with an international flavour.

The theme was Christmas traditions from other countries and the ‘Routes into Languages’ programme asked pupils to research and design a card, featuring any foreign language except English.

‘Routes into Languages’ is an educational initiative, which was set up in 2006, to promote the take-up of languages through cooperation between universities, schools and colleges in England.

The West Midlands regional centre planned to send out a Christmas e-card to all of its contacts and decided to invite students in Years 7 and 8, from schools in the region, to participate in the competition.

Bridgnorth Endowed School submitted 22 superb entries and, although none were chosen as the winner, the following six cards were singled out as top designs.
