Year 11 Geography Fieldwork Trip

Kitted out from head to toe in waterproofs, Year 11 geography students visited Ashes Hollow, just outside Craven Arms, to conduct essential fieldwork for their GCSE earlier this week.

They were tasked with investigating the extent to which the river channel and valley in Ashes Hollow change downstream, and compare it to the textbook model studied in class.

Students got stuck in and worked in groups to collect various pieces of data to prove or disprove various hypotheses, in pursuit of the answers to their investigation.

Geography teacher, Mr Pope, said: “Despite the heavy rain and cold temperatures, students applied themselves really well to their task and got first-hand experience of how geography works in the real world.”
