Eco Tree Project Takes Root

This morning, members of our wonderful eco team took a walk down to the Friars Playing Fields to check on the saplings planted back in November and put up a new plaque to mark the fledgling copse.

The tree planting project, made possible by a Woodland Trust scheme, came from the school’s eco plan that formed part of last year’s application for Eco-Schools Green Flag accreditation.

With Mrs Porter at the helm, the team felt that tree planting would be a tangible way to help tackle the climate crisis and be a lasting legacy in their mission to improve the school’s eco credentials.

Since then, the team has gone from strength to strength and recruited ten new eco reps, who are all looking forward to getting stuck into some new initiatives, starting with litter picking after the Easter holidays.

Our new eco team includes Adam Hewer (9IN), George Shaw (7VE), Jack Greenwood (7VE), Florrie Cole (7SC), Lottie Griffin (7IN), Isabelle Williams (7SC), Felicity Plant (7SC), Grace Aisling (7SC), Macy Walsh (11SC) and Trinity Ashworth (11SC).
