Skye Scoops Top Ten Place in Bridgnorth Walk

Skye walking with her dad Rory in last Sunday’s Bridgnorth Walk

Congratulations to Skye McWilliams from Year 10, who was the seventh woman back at the Annual Bridgnorth Walk, which took place last Sunday.

Around 300 people laced up their trainers for the popular local challenge and Skye managed to complete the 22-mile course in an impressive 4 hours and 51 minutes, finishing 24th overall.

Walking with her dad, Rory, as part of the Shaz’s Angels team, the pair helped to raise around £5,500 for Severn Hospice, in memory of a close family friend who sadly passed away from cancer.

Training for the event wasn’t too much of an issue for the football-mad 15-year-old as playing for Broseley U15 Girls as well as the school team keeps her in peak fitness.

Mum, Sarah, said: “I’m so proud of Skye – she has shown great strength of character over the past week.”

“Sadly, she lost her grandad after a short illness on Thursday, but managed to find the courage to play football on Saturday morning against Wrekin, in which she scored the goal of the match in their 6-0 win.”

“She then did the Walk on Sunday and still managed to make it into school on Monday morning, before attending football training on Monday night, all while trying to come to terms with loss of grandad.”

Well done to Skye!
