School Governor Vacancies

Bridgnorth Endowed School is looking to recruit a Parent Governor, to be elected by the parent body, and a Community Parent Governor, to be appointed by the Governing Board.

This is a tremendous opportunity to contribute to the local community by helping to guide and support the development of the school.

The school has made great strides to improve in recent years, achieving a ‘Good’ judgement from Ofsted in April this year and we are very proud of the great success our students have had in their exams.

Mr Worth took up post as the new Headteacher towards the end of the last academic year and has already put in place further improvements that will take the school on to the next level and beyond.

But the school is not just about exam success, we support out students’ development with a broad curriculum and a wide range of out of school activities.

Although unpaid, the governors at BES take their roles seriously and attend a minimum of two meetings of the full Governing Board a term, and each is a member of at least one committee, which usually meet termly. Meetings are normally held in the early evening.

If you have an interest in education and the development of young people and feel that you could make a commitment, please get in touch to find out more.

We would particularly like to hear from you if you have knowledge and expertise in any of the following:

  • business / financial management;
  • legal & regulatory compliance;
  • or links with the local community

As a governor, your contribution will be highly valued and you will play a leading role in supporting the future of the school, which has served Bridgnorth and the surrounding area for over 500 years.

If you are prepared to put yourself forward for election as a parent governor and make a commitment to the school for a four-year term of office, please complete and return this Nomination Form by the 19th October 2018.

If you want to know more before submitting your nomination, please contact Mr Mark Freathy, Chair of Governors, via Ms Darby, Headteacher’s PA, on 01746 760375 or email mfreathy@bridgnorthendowed.co.uk to arrange an informal discussion in the first instance.
