Pupils Fall Silent for Remembrance

Students at Friday’s Remembrance Day ceremony

Friday’s Armistice Day was observed by the school, as normal daily activity was halted to remember the fallen from the two world wars and other conflicts.

The commemorative event took place in the school grounds and the mild autumn day provided a beautiful backdrop to the morning’s special proceedings.

Headteacher, Mr Penn, led the proceedings, ahead of Head Girl, Niamh Ford, and Head Boy, Luke Hadley, reciting a poem by Wilfred Owen called ‘Anthem for Doomed Youth’.

Following the ceremony, the school’s team of Forms Reps moved on to the Garden of Remembrance and laid wooden poppy crosses on behalf of each tutor group.

Staff congratulated the students for demonstrating respectful behaviour and exemplary manners during the ceremony, which was a fitting tribute for the occasion.
