Martial Arts Champ Defies Pandemic

Tae Kwon Do champion Luke Richardson in action

Former Bridgnorth Endowed student, Luke Richardson, has refused to let the pandemic slow down his successful campaign as a top-level Martial Arts competitor in the Royal Air Force.

After leaving school three years ago, Luke went straight into the RAF, where he was given the opportunity to pursue his passion for Martial Arts and boxing.

Currently with 34 Squadron, based at RAF Leeming North Yorkshire, the 19-year-old is ranked ‘Forces Number One’ in Tae Kwon Do and is also rapidly working his way up in the boxing rankings.

Since Covid-19 hit, however, Luke has been unable to compete and has needed to adapt his programme to keep up the momentum and maintain his fitness levels through socially-distanced training.

PE teacher, Mr Chase, commented: “Everyone at BES would like to congratulate Luke on his impressive achievements and we wish him every success in the future.”
