We are delighted to introduce our brand-new team of Football Activators, which was announced in school last Wednesday.

The 12 girls, from across all year groups, have come together with one clear mission in mind – to inspire and provide opportunities for girls to get into football.

Following on with the new Game On programme, sponsored by Barclays, they will continue the good work started under the previous Game of Our Own initiative.

Designed to support secondary schools to engage girls in physical education, Game On takes a unique life skills approach, using football as the vehicle.

It shines a light on the real power of football and how it develops the person, as well as the performer, through key skills that are transferrable outside of school in everyday life.

The newly-appointed Football Activators will run, organise, and deliver sessions locally, introducing more girls to football, and also developing themselves for the future.

PE teacher and supporter of girls’ football, Mr Chase, said of the project: “The girls are not only trying to increase participation in secondary schools, but they have made it their mission to extend it to primary schools.”

“We already have two Game On clubs ready to start in two of our family primary schools, St John’s and Worfield. This will see our girls taking their vision and resources out and delivering after-school clubs alongside teaching staff from the primaries.”

“It really is an exciting time to be involved in the growth of girls’ football.”
