Hockey Tournament Success for U13 Boys

The U13 boys’ squad at yesterday afternoon’s In2Hockey tournament

The Under 13 Boys’ hockey team enjoyed success in the Shropshire In2Hockey tournament held at Wrekin College on Tuesday afternoon.

The mixed team of Year 7 and 8 boys won two out of their three pool matches, defeating Thomas Telford School 1-0 and William Brookes 2-0.

This led to a play-off to get to the final, in which Oswestry School sadly beat us 2-1 on penalty shuffles after a nil-nil draw.

Bridgnorth Endowed then went on to play Bedstone College and won 2-0, finishing the day on a high and claiming third place.

BES teacher and hockey coach, Mrs Griffin, said: “I’m so impressed with the lads – they played brilliantly in the face of some stiff competition.”

“Special congratulations go to our top goal scorer, Eddie Sykes, and Ben Emmanuel, who offered to play in goal having never done it before!”

Well done to our top team, which included George Barnsley, George Berry, Lewis Chamberlain, Ben Emanuel, Oscar Griffiths, William Hobday, Kobe Lyon, Ben Musgrave, Eddie Sykes and Callum Watkins.
