A group of ten girls from Bridgnorth Endowed took part in a special ‘Game of Our Own’ engagement event at Loughborough University on Monday 4th March.

The students from Years 7, 8 and 9 received training from the Youth Sport Trust, working in partnership with the FA, as part of an initiative to increase the level and standard of girls’ participation in football.

Designed to inspire girls to be ‘activators’, it teaches them leadership skills to deliver football sessions to other girls when they return to their schools and communities.

As well as igniting a passion for the game, the programme also helps them to develop essential life skills, including resilience, confidence, teamworking and empathy.

The trip was a huge success and the girls are looking forward to joining the mission to attract more females to the sport, along with challenging the stereotype that football is just for boys.
