Hundreds of primary school children in Shropshire, who are set to move up to secondary school in September, took part in some crucial safety training last week and Bridgnorth Endowed students played a key role in the event, which has been running for more than 25 years.
The Bridgnorth and South Shropshire Crucial Crew saw over 860 Year 6 students from local schools attend the week-long event held at Bridgnorth Rugby Club, where they received essential safety training from organisations such as the police and fire service.
This year, Bridgnorth Endowed School was invited to take part in the workshops and a group of students went along each day to put on a play highlighting the dangers of bullying.
Drama teacher, Ms Taylor, said: “One of the Crucial Crew organisers, John White, who previously drove minibuses for Bridgnorth Endowed, approached us earlier this year with the challenge of developing an anti-bullying presentation.”
“Myself and three Year 10 students, Mia Wain, Ben Emmanuel, and Charlotte Cotterill, devised an educational and entertaining piece on the issue of bullying and, in particular, online bullying.”
“After a large amount of interest from Year 7 and 8 pupils, we held auditions to select our final cast and everyone worked extremely hard to produce a fantastic performance that proved to be a great success, with our students receiving compliments from all involved in the event.”
Well done to everyone who took part in this important event.
