BES Breaks Tradition to Celebrate the Start of the Commonwealth Games

Y11 sports captains flying the house flags ahead of the BES Commonwealth Games

To celebrate Birmingham hosting this summer’s Commonwealth Games, Bridgnorth Endowed decided to put on its very own version for the annual school sports event, held on Wednesday.

After a cloudy and dull start for the Year 7 and 8 competition, the sun finally came out to yield a beautiful afternoon with brilliant blue skies for the rest of the event.

Flying the flags for each of the school’s four houses, students took part in a variety of sports, including lawn bowls, cycling and beach volleyball, all of which feature in the official Games.

A fiercely-contested battle rumbled on and eventually saw Invictus lift the cup for the lower school and Scientia come away with the upper school trophy.

Both victories will contribute to the House Cup, but the question on everyone’s lips is, who will be the ultimate winner? We wait to find out in the end of year assemblies…
