Mrs Griffin

I was born in Bridgnorth and grew up locally. I completed my Biology and Chemistry degree with the Open University and worked alongside my studies, firstly at We the Curious in Bristol and then later at the Discovery Centre in Craven Arms. I have taught Science at Bridgnorth Endowed School for over five years and I also run the hockey club. I am passionate about Science and very competitive. It is a privilege to be welcoming you to our school and I will be encouraging you to work hard, get involved and try new things. Your tutor group and your house are your school family and we are here for you – we will help you to shine, support you through challenges and celebrate your successes.

Invictus Form Tutor (7IN)

Mr Younis

After completing my studies at the University of Wolverhampton, I gained valuable experience working as a Teaching Assistant, Mentor, and Fire Safety Officer before qualifying as a teacher. Supporting and empowering young people to achieve their best has always been my passion. I've taught a range of subjects including Citizenship, Ethics, PSHE, RE, and Geography. This broad experience has equipped me with a student-centred approach to teaching and pastoral care. Ten years into my career, I fulfilled a long-held ambition by joining the police, supporting some of the most vulnerable in society. After a couple of rewarding years, I returned to teaching with a fresh perspective and skills to help young people overcome challenges and achieve their goals. I’m involved in British Council projects and Gender Equalities, encouraging students to engage in cross-cultural exchanges. Outside work, I enjoy travelling, cricket, and volunteering for charity.

7 SCIENTIA

Mr Nicholls

I grew up in Shrewsbury and, after school, I travelled to various parts of the world, where I spent time rock climbing in both the Himalaya and Alps. I joined the Army as an officer in the Infantry at the age of 21. I served in a variety of locations, including Northern Ireland, Hong Kong, and the conflict zones of Kosovo, Iraq and Afghanistan, over a career that lasted about 18 years. Having retired from the Army in favour of a more settled family life, I moved back to Shrewsbury and ran a tree surgery company for a short while before entering the teaching profession. Now, I enjoy family time, various fitness activities and riding horses badly, often falling off. I take over as Head of Scientia in September. I look forward to welcoming you to Bridgnorth Endowed, and to help you grow as individuals to be the best you can be in the coming five years.

Scientia Form Tutor (7SC)

Mr Martinez

I was born and grew up in Gibraltar, near Spain. Even though my main language is English, being close to Spain and having a Spanish nan meant we mainly spoke Spanish at home. At 19, I came to the UK to study Education and stayed in Bristol for a few years. I worked as a Teaching Assistant before deciding to become a teacher. Fast-forward a few years, I spent 10 years at Highley Primary School, teaching everything from art to science, maths, and English. I enjoy being creative and making things. At home, I love painting – especially with my 5-year-old son and 3-year-old daughter, although it can get a little messy! I like building things too – my wife and I built a raised playhouse for them and always have new DIY ideas. I also LOVE Star Wars – you might spot a few characters in our form room. I currently teach Spanish at BES and look forward to meeting and supporting you all.

Mr Chase

Born in Bridgnorth in the 1970s, my father worked in the steel industry and my mother in the jewellery industry. I am the proud father of four lovely girls and come from a football mad household. I started teaching in Stoke then moved to Liverpool, before returning to the Midlands to teach in Wednesbury for eight years. In 2009, I joined Bridgnorth Endowed School, where I became a teacher of PE, then later became Head of PE. Last year, I was appointed Head of House. I am passionate about helping students become well-rounded individuals who reflect on the decisions they make. I take great pride in the community I live and work in and believe our students should feel the same too. I try to encourage our students to represent their various houses and create lots of healthy competition and rivalry.

Ms Harding

Bonjour! I am really looking forward to being a Year 7 tutor and getting to know you all. I have been working at Bridgnorth Endowed School for the last two years, but I started teaching in 1990. I grew up near London and I studied for a BA in French and German at Lancaster University and then an MSc in Applied Linguistics at Edinburgh University. I love languages. I teach French here but I have qualifications in French, German, Spanish, Italian and Latin. I also enjoy travelling and I have worked as a volunteer overseas, living in Thailand for six years. Since then, I have lived in Shropshire for 25 years and raised three lovely children. In the coming months, I will be there to support you in every way I can, as you grow as individuals, learn new skills and gain a wealth of new experiences at BES. À bientôt.

7 VIRTUS

Head of Virtus House

Ms Corbett

I was born and grew up in Shrewsbury before moving to Liverpool to study Drama and Theatre at university. After working a ski season in the French Alps, I returned to do my teacher training at Birmingham City University. I started my career teaching drama in an inner-city Birmingham school before coming to BES in 2015. As well as teaching drama, I am also the coordinator for relationship, sex and health education. I became Head of Virtus House in February 2022 and I love this role as I'm passionate about helping students to reach their full potential and realise their true worth. Virtus is the best house to be in as we represent courage; I want all of my students to have the courage to learn new skills, meet new people and push themselves out of their comfort zones. Our vast extra-curricular programme will enable you to do this, and of course win house points.

Miss Stubbs

Originally from Wolverhampton, I moved to Bridgnorth around three years ago. I hold a degree in Fine Art from the University of Wolverhampton, where I specialised in oil painting and pinhole photography. I'm a proud mum to two girls, and in my spare time I enjoy visiting art galleries, painting with my daughters, making artwork, and spending time outdoors. I especially enjoy walking and being in nature, which often influences my creative work. I’ve recently joined Bridgnorth Endowed as an art teacher, so I understand what it’s like to be new to the school. As your tutor, I’ll do my best to make sure your transition is as smooth as possible and will support you throughout your time here.
