7 VIRTUS

Head of Virtus House
Ms Corbett
I was born and grew up in Shrewsbury before moving to Liverpool to study Drama and Theatre at university. After working a ski season in the French Alps, I returned to do my teacher training at Birmingham City University. I started my career teaching drama in an inner-city Birmingham school before coming to BES in 2015. As well as teaching drama, I am also the coordinator for relationship, sex and health education. I became Head of Virtus House in February 2022 and I love this role as I'm passionate about helping students to reach their full potential and realise their true worth. Virtus is the best house to be in as we represent courage; I want all of my students to have the courage to learn new skills, meet new people and push themselves out of their comfort zones. Our vast extra-curricular programme will enable you to do this, and of course win house points.

Miss Silvester
I recently qualified as a PE teacher and am excited to be joining BES in September. I studied Sport and Exercise Science at university, specialising in Strength and Conditioning, and I am passionate about all areas of physical education. I completed my teacher training across schools in Telford and Stoke-on-Trent, where I developed a keen focus on delivering inclusive and engaging PE lessons. In my previous school, I supported the coaching of netball and football teams, which I thoroughly enjoyed, and I am looking forward to getting involved in after-school clubs here. Outside of school, I have a real love for dance. I was a British Ballet Organisation (BBO) scholar and have recently returned to ballet and tap. I also enjoy running, training in the gym, and watching football. As your tutor, I will support you in any way I can. I understand what it feels like to be new and will encourage you to get involved, try new things, school community from the start.
7 VERITAS

Head of Veritas House
Mr Chase
Born in Bridgnorth in the 1970s, my father worked in the steel industry and my mother in the jewellery industry. I am the proud father of four lovely girls and come from a football mad household. I started teaching in Stoke then moved to Liverpool, before returning to the Midlands to teach in Wednesbury for eight years. In 2009, I joined Bridgnorth Endowed School, where I became a teacher of PE, then later became Head of PE. Last year, I was appointed Head of House. I am passionate about helping students become well-rounded individuals who reflect on the decisions they make. I take great pride in the community I live and work in and believe our students should feel the same too. I try to encourage our students to represent their various houses and create lots of healthy competition and rivalry.

Ms Thomas
I was born and raised in Saudi Arabia and moved to the UK when I was 17. My path into teaching started with a degree in Engineering, but I soon discovered that my true passion lies in helping young people learn and grow – so I became a teacher! I've been teaching for 13 years and joined BES in 2023. Before coming, I spent eight years living in Dubai, teaching Maths in a British school. I've been fortunate to volunteer in schools in South India during holidays, which has given me a wonderful multicultural teaching experience and helped me appreciate how learning can connect us all. Outside the classroom, I enjoy cooking, gardening, and travelling, exploring new places and cultures. As your teacher, my goal is simple: to help you become the best version of yourself. I believe that if you put your mind to something, you can achieve it. I'll be here to support you every step of the way – on both the easy and challenging days – and to celebrate all of your successes.
7 INVICTUS

Mrs Griffin
I was born in Bridgnorth and grew up locally. I completed my Biology and Chemistry degree with the Open University and worked alongside my studies, firstly at We the Curious in Bristol and then later at the Discovery Centre in Craven Arms. I have taught Science at Bridgnorth Endowed School for over five years and I also run the hockey club. I am passionate about Science and very competitive. It is a privilege to be welcoming you to our school and I will be encouraging you to work hard, get involved and try new things. Your tutor group and your house are your school family and we are here for you – we will help you to shine, support you through challenges and celebrate your successes.

Invictus Form Tutor (7IN)
Miss Koziel
Born in Poland and raised between Poland and France, I developed a love of languages from an early age. After completing my university studies, my passion for literature led me to pursue a PhD in 16th-century French theatre at the University of Warsaw. I have been teaching French for 15 years, including the last eight years in Shropshire. Throughout my career, I have been dedicated to inspiring a love of learning and helping students achieve their full potential, both within and beyond the classroom. Outside of school, I enjoy spending time in nature and have a great love for animals. More recently, I have discovered a passion for sailing and am currently learning how to renovate and sail a yacht. I believe that curiosity, perseverance, and a willingness to embrace new challenges are valuable qualities for both teachers and students alike.
7 SCIENTIA

Head of Scientia House
Mr Nicholls
I grew up in Shrewsbury and, after school, I travelled to various parts of the world, where I spent time rock climbing in both the Himalayas and Alps. I joined the Army as an officer in the Infantry at the age of 21. I served in a variety of locations, including Northern Ireland, Hong Kong, and the conflict zones of Kosovo, Iraq and Afghanistan, over a career that lasted about 18 years. Having retired from the Army in favour of a more settled family life, I moved back to Shrewsbury and ran a tree surgery company for a short while before entering the teaching profession. Now, I enjoy family time, various fitness activities and riding horses badly, often falling off. I look forward to welcoming you to Bridgnorth Endowed, and to help you grow as individuals to be the best you can be in the coming five years.

Mrs Poade
I’m a Bridgnorth local and began my journey at this school myself as a Year 7 student – just a few years ago! After leaving school, I spent time travelling across Europe and Thailand before eventually settling down to start a family. I hold a degree in English Literature and have been working in education for over five years. Outside of school, I enjoy getting lost in a good book, exploring new places, and hiking with my golden retriever, Teddy. I also love spending time with my family, watching a good period drama, visiting museums, and making the most of sunny days in my garden. This is my first year at Bridgnorth Endowed School, and I’m really looking forward to beginning our journey together.
