On Friday, our Year 10 geography students swapped the classroom for the great outdoors, heading to Ashes Hollow in Little Stretton for a day of hands-on fieldwork as part of their GCSE coursework.
Led by Geography Teacher Mr Pope, the students worked in teams to gather data from three different sites along the river, investigating how the channel and valley shape changed downstream. Their mission was to see if Ashes Hollow followed the same patterns they had explored in class.
The students tackled the challenge with great enthusiasm and teamwork, embracing the opportunity to apply their skills in a real-world environment. Mr Pope was full of praise for the group, commenting on their positive attitude, energy and impressive effort throughout the day.
It was a great opportunity for the students to experience geography in action — and judging by the smiles and soggy socks, a thoroughly enjoyable one too. Well done to all our Year 10 geographers for making the most of this fantastic learning experience.
