On Monday, Bridgnorth Endowed welcomed three members of the Shrewsbury Colleges Group team to talk to Year 10s about their post-16 options.

SCG’s School Liaison Officer, Molly Hughes, gave students an overview of the various pathways available at the college’s three campuses, and the upcoming open events and taster days on offer.

The talk then moved on to specific study areas and Health and Social Care Lead, Sarah Davies, covered courses, including a diploma in health and social care and an exciting new nursing pathway.

The pathway, which was recently launched after four years in the planning, enables school leavers to study a two-year Extended Diploma in Health & Social Care on a Nursing Pathway.

The course gives students access to valuable work placements within Shropshire’s three main NHS Trusts, and anyone who passes is guaranteed a place to study Adult Nursing at the University of Chester’s Shrewsbury site.

For students interested in sports courses, instructor Emma Kershaw talked students through the different sports qualifications available.

Amongst others, this included Level 3 programmes in football and rugby education, a diploma in outdoor pursuits, and a Level 2 in Health, Fitness and Exercise.

Careers Lead, Miss Edwards, commented: “Our Year 10s found the talk extremely useful as many of our students choose to go to Shrewsbury Colleges Group after their GCSEs.”

“Thank you to Molly, Sarah and Emma for taking the time to come out to visit us.”
