Huge congratulations to Year 9 students, Bertie Kyte and Ben Musgrave, who have recently been selected to play for the under-14 county cricket squad next year.
Despite facing plenty of stiff competition, the boys’ exceptional talent shone through and the pair will start training with their team in January.
Professional cricket coach, Sam Whitney, who works with the boys at Bridgnorth Cricket Club and comes into school to run extra-curricular training sessions, can’t praise the boys highly enough.
“I’m really pleased for Ben and Bertie. Ben has been involved with the county set up for a few years now, but has a brilliant attitude and is always looking to improve his game. He took his first senior five-wicket haul last season, and there’ll be many more to come.”
“With Bertie, it shows that hard work really does pay off. He loves the game, loves batting and I’ve been blown away by the improvement in his wicketkeeping. He has matured as a cricketer this past year and 100% deserves his spot in the county squad.”
Sport is an important aspect of life at Bridgnorth Endowed and the school is always keen to help students develop and improve by providing professional coaching opportunities, alongside high quality PE lessons and extra-curricular clubs. Well done to Bertie and Ben.
