Pupils Enjoy a Day at the Races

Students wearing jockey silks on the Racing to Schools rewards trip at Ludlow Races

Last week, a group of Bridgnorth Endowed students were treated to an exciting day at the races as part of the school’s rewards programme to recognise those with the highest number of positive behaviour points.

Thirty pupils from across all year groups headed to Ludlow Racecourse for a special event organised by Racing to School, a charity that offers student engagement experiences designed to bring school subjects to life by applying them to real life settings.

The day featured a range of fun activities focusing on the importance of maths in racing, from weights and measurements and the handicapping system, to the geometry in the construction of fences and getting to grips with race cards.

Wearing jockey silks throughout the day and watching the horses race, the students thoroughly enjoyed their rewards trip and, as well as seeing maths in action, they also got a glimpse of the many different career opportunities within the industry.
