New BES House Names Unveiled

Pupils proudly showing off the new house ties that will be introduced this September

Bridgnorth Endowed School unveiled the new names for its houses today, after almost 40 years of service from the much-loved Hardwicke, Rowley and Washbrook.

Following months of passionate debate, the final decision was put in the hands of the local community, along with all members of the school, and the Latin values theme won by a huge majority with 41.5% of the vote.

The announcement came during this morning’s Tutor Time, when the names were revealed to students and staff as Veritas meaning truth, Scientia meaning knowledge, Virtus meaning courage and Invictus meaning unconquerable.

Shields adorned with each of the house colours have been designed to reflect the carefully chosen meanings, which are seen as important values that resonate strongly throughout the school.

What’s more, new ties will also be introduced in September 2021 and, in celebration of the house rebrand, the school will cover the cost of a tie for every student.

Senior Leader, Mrs Tristham, concludes: “This is a change driven by the pupils of our school in its truest sense – something we are incredibly proud of. The houses are an important part of life at Bridgnorth Endowed and everyone is looking forward to the next exciting chapter of the school’s history.”
