Inside Rehearsals for High School Musical

With just six weeks to go until the curtain rises on the first performance of High School Musical, the cast and behind-the-scenes team are hard at work to bring Disney’s smash hit movie to life on stage.

Josh Loveday and Francesca Bicknell have taken on the lead roles of Troy and Gabriella in the Bridgnorth Endowed production, and are joined by a stellar cast across the year groups.

The students, who auditioned back in October, have been rehearsing tirelessly to learn, not just the lines, but High School Musical’s many upbeat numbers and lively dance routines.

On the experience, a member of the cast told us: “I’m working with people I didn’t know before the show – now it feels like we’re family.” Another reported: “It’s stressful but well worth it.”

The show, which opens next month, centres on a popular high school athlete and a smart new girl, who get parts in the school musical and develop a close relationship that changes East High’s social order.

Join the Jocks, Brainiacs, Thespians and Skater Dudes in their cliques as they explore all the teenage ups and downs that friendship, family and first love bring.

Directed by music teacher, Mr Richard Fox, High School Musical on Stage! opens at the Bridgnorth Endowed Leisure Centre on Thursday 28th March and runs for two consecutive nights.

Tickets are due to go on sale after half term and are priced at £7 for adults and £4 for children.
