Building on the U16 boys latest success outdoors, they are now heading indoors to battle for a place in the Midlands Finals in a bid to represent Bridgnorth Endowed and the Midlands at the National Finals.

On Friday 17th November, captain Josh Sykes will be hopeful in leading his team to victory in their qualifying group against Malvern College and Bromsgrove School.

The U16 boys have been working hard behind the scenes, training intensely for the past six weeks with PE Teacher, Miss Eyre.

Miss Eyre comments: “This is our first time in the competition, and to be the only state school in the Midlands to enter, we are hoping to make a bold statement to the other schools as to what we can produce on and off the pitch.”

“I’m unbelievably proud of how much these boys have improved and their commitment to hockey. It is really paying off and has been proven by them being crowned Shropshire Champions in the U14s and U16s, and coming second in the Midlands at U15s level. We know this is going to be a tough challenge for them, but I have faith we will qualify.”

Josh Sykes, a high-level hockey player at Telford & Wrekin Hockey Club and the Stourport Talent Academy will be joined by 11 teammates from all year groups of the school. Provided they place first or second in the group, Josh and his team will be competing in the Midlands Final on Thursday 30th November, which leads on to the National competition.

Best of luck to Josh Sykes, Tom Whitehouse, Henry Griffin, Marcus Rowley, Harry Lewis, Eddie Sykes, Will Hobday, Marcus Thompson, Kobe Lyon, Jack Butler, Ben Emanual, and Taylor Kirkham.
