Extreme Reading Challenge Winner

Well done to Lily Hancox from 8SC who won the Extreme Reading Challenge launched to students over the summer.

Lily was lucky enough to spend five days with her family in Iceland and was snapped reading a book with an active volcano in the background.

Even more impressive was the fact that she had trekked for over 18 kilometres to reach the spot near to Litli-Hrútur, a small mountain located on the Reykjanes peninsula, close to the town of Grindavik.

An avid reader who has read over one million words as part of the Accelerated Reader programme, Lily is a self-confessed bookworm with a passion for English.

The competition was a huge success and, although a number of other interesting entries were submitted, Lily’s photograph made her the clear winner.

The announcement was made earlier today and Lily received a £10 book voucher as well as house points for Scientia.
