Oliver! rehearsals are now well underway at Bridgnorth Endowed School and there’s plenty of buzz as the brand-new cast begins working towards live performances booked for next March.
The lead roles were recently announced, with two Oliver Twist’s in the form of Archie Wootton and Heidi Kench, while Patrick Ainge stars as Artful Dodger and Henry Griffin takes on Fagin, alongside Sophie Hill and Charlotte Cotterill who share the iconic role of Nancy.
Supported by a talented and experienced production team, the stellar cast is set to bring the streets of Victorian England to life through the eyes of orphan, Oliver Twist.
The words “please, sir, I want some more” set the scene as the malnourished Oliver asks for extra gruel, before being cast out of the grim 19th century workhouse he calls home.
The young boy eventually falls in with a gang of pickpockets and their loathsome leader, Fagin, but Oliver quickly discovers he is not fit for a life of crime, and hopes for a better life.
With a whole host of catchy songs, including “Consider Yourself”, “Pick A Pocket Or Two”, “I’d Do Anything”, “Who Will Buy” and “Oom-Pah-Pah“, the show is set to be a huge success. This, together with the scope for exciting costume and set design, promises to deliver a sensational stage production for audiences to remember.
More behind-the-scenes news will be revealed soon and tickets are due to go on sale in the new year. Performances of Oliver! will run at Bridgnorth Endowed Leisure Centre from Thursday 14th to Saturday 16th March 2024.
