Bridgnorth Endowed Student Selected for County Golf Team

Year 9 Bridgnorth Endowed School student, Charlie Phillips

Charlie Phillips from Year 9 is on cloud nine after hearing the news that he’s been picked to play for the U14 County Golf Team.

The talented 14-year-old, who’s been developing his golf game for the past four years, works exceptionally hard and practises between three and four times a week.

As a member of the Shropshire Golf Club in Telford, Charlie holds a handicap of 16 and has even chalked up an impressive hole-in-one, which won him a luxury Hugo Boss watch.

Other recent golfing achievements include winning a Junior Order of Merit Competition and coming second in the President’s Medal – a club competition that’s usually for adults.

Mum, Tracy, said: “Charlie’s really looking forward to representing Shropshire and hopes to work towards bringing his handicap down further over the next 12 months.”

“We are so proud of how hard he has worked to achieve one of his many goals, despite all the difficulties of the past year.”

The best of luck to Charlie, who plays his first match in the county team against Warwickshire at the end of the month.
