Bridgnorth Endowed Student Excels in UK Maths Challenge

UK Maths Challenge 2018

Congratulations go to Year 7 student, William Ellison, who was in the top 7% of the 300,000 students that entered into this year’s UK Maths Challenge.

Organised by the UK Mathematics Trust, based at Leeds University, the UK Maths Challenge is a national competition for 11-18-year-old school pupils.

William’s exceptionally high score saw him qualify for the Junior Kangaroo, which is a follow-on round to the Maths Challenge. Only 7200 students were invited to sit the one-hour multiple-choice paper, and he came in the top 26% of entries.

Each year, the Maths Department at Bridgnorth Endowed enters students into the UK Maths Challenge and the school always does extremely well, with many students being ranked in the top 40% of the country.

However, William’s result is the highest that’s been achieved, something Maths Teacher, Mr Goddard, hasn’t seen in ten years of teaching. Well done William!
