Big Fall Doesn’t Stop Zoe at Cross Country Nationals

Zoe Gilbody competing in the English National Cross Country Championships

Year 7 Bridgnorth Endowed School student, Zoe Gilbody, came an impressive second in the English National Cross Country Championships last Saturday.

The event was held in the stunning grounds of Harewood House, Leeds and the Under 13 Girls’ race was 3.2 km long with a field of over 400 runners.

Zoe was leading with another runner from Exeter when, just past the 2 km mark, she unfortunately took a big fall, breaking a finger and a bone in her hand.

Recovering quickly, Zoe got straight back into the race and went on to finish second, just six seconds behind the winner and ranking the highest of any Midlands’ runner on the day.

Congratulations to Zoe on her strong performance.
