Bridgnorth Endowed School welcomed students, families, staff, alumni and special guests to St Mary’s Church last Thursday for its Annual Awards Evening – a glittering event to celebrate the achievements, talents and contributions of students across the school.
Under this year’s theme, From Achievement to Possibility, more than 100 students were recognised for their hard work, dedication and the many ways they make a difference, both in and beyond the classroom.
Guest speaker Chris Phillips, a former BES student, returned to share lessons from his own journey. Since leaving the school, Chris has built a career as a paramedic and senior ambulance service leader, alongside running a successful consultancy business.
He encouraged students not to be afraid of making decisions and to have the confidence to embrace opportunities as they arise.

Music was another highlight of the evening, with talented BES students taking to the stage throughout the celebrations, which ended on a high with Florrie Cole and Evie Dornan’s stunning performance of For Good from Wicked.
Awards recognised high attainment and outstanding effort across subject areas, alongside achievements in sport, the arts, STEM and the wider community. Students were also recognised for demonstrating BES’s five core values: Trust, Aspiration, Respect, Resilience and Kindness.
One of the evening’s most heartfelt moments was the presentation of the new Will Davis Community Award, created in memory of a much-loved Year 8 student who sadly passed away last year. Presented to Farren Edwards and William Sanderson, the award recognised the thoughtfulness, kindness and compassion they have shown, highlighting the difference that supporting others can make.

The prestigious Headteacher’s Awards went to Noah Bishell, in recognition of his exceptional GCSE results this summer, alongside the humility and kindness he demonstrated throughout his time at BES, and Eliza Lewis, whose courage and positivity in the face of personal challenges have been an inspiration.
David O’Toole, CEO of The 3-18 Education Trust, brought the evening to a close with an address congratulating students on their achievements and praising the school for such a wonderful celebration.
Headteacher Michael Penn said:
“Our Awards Evening is a special opportunity to celebrate not only what our students achieve, but also who they are. From academic success and individual talents to kindness, resilience and the support they show others, there is so much to be proud of at BES.”
“This year’s theme, From Achievement to Possibility, captures our hopes for every student. We want them to recognise their own potential, have the confidence to embrace new opportunities and look ahead to all they can achieve.”
A huge thank you to everyone who helped make the evening so memorable, and congratulations to all our award winners. We are incredibly proud of you.
