We’re delighted to celebrate an incredible artistic achievement by Year 7 student Nia Sandhu, whose ceramic sculpture, Chompy, has been selected for the prestigious Royal Academy of Arts Young Artists’ Summer Show.
Of the 25,659 entries submitted by young artists across the UK, just 190 pieces were chosen for display, making this a truly remarkable accomplishment.
Nia’s artwork, Chompy, is featured in both the online exhibition and the live event at Burlington House in Central London, giving visitors the opportunity to experience her work both digitally and in person.
The sculpture is a heartfelt tribute to Nia’s beloved guinea pig, who recently passed away and meant a great deal to her. Created in stoneware clay, Chompy was bisque fired to 1000°C, decorated with oxides and glaze, and then high fired to 1240°C. This detailed making process reflects the care, craftsmanship and personal connection behind the piece.
Now in its eighth year, the Royal Academy of Arts Young Artists’ Summer Show is a free, open-submission exhibition celebrating the creativity and talent of young people aged 4 to 18 across the UK. Running from 14 July to 30 August 2026, the exhibition showcases selected artworks and highlights the incredible talent of the next generation of artists.
Head of Creative Arts, Louise Rhodes, said:
“We’re incredibly proud of Nia’s success and it’s fantastic to see her recognised on such a prestigious national platform. Having her work exhibited by the Royal Academy of Arts is a wonderful testament to her creativity and skill. The Young Artists’ Summer Show reinforces the importance of art education and how art gives young people the freedom to explore ideas, express themselves and develop their own unique voices – something we are passionate about nurturing at Bridgnorth Endowed.”
Congratulations to Nia!
