To help parents of children starting in Year 7, we've listed the most frequently asked questions to provide some initial information about day-to-day life at Bridgnorth Endowed School.
Please click on the questions below to find out more.
1. What happens on the first day of Year 7?
School starts at 8.45am on Tuesday 2nd September 2025 and staff will be waiting at the Leisure Centre and Innage Lane gates to greet students and direct them to their form rooms. Here, they will meet their tutor group and form teacher, who will hand out timetables, maps and other key information.
Lessons will run as normal for the day so students will start to get to know their teachers and classmates. Getting lost is often a concern but there are always plenty of staff on hand to help direct students to their next lesson.
During the first week, Year 7s will have a slightly earlier lunch, which gives them the chance to understand how it all works and have their thumbprints taken for the cashless catering system.
2. What are the school term dates?
Our 2025-26 term dates are available as follows:
3. What are the school hours and how is the day organised?
The official school day starts at 8.45am and ends at 3.15pm, so the total number hours provided in a typical week is just over 32.5. However, Breakfast Club can be booked from 8.15am and after-school clubs run until 5pm each day.

All requirements can be found on the Uniform page
Pupils will find out which house they'll be in during the Year 6 Taster Days and ties will be available to purchase at the New Parents' Evening.
5. What equipment does my child need?
To support their learning, students are expected to bring a basic stationery kit to school each day, along with any specialist equipment needed for specific lessons. Stationery items and equipment packs – including a pair of safety goggles, a cookery apron, and a workshop apron – will be available to purchase from the school office, the online school shop, and at the New Parents' Evening.
6. Does my child need a laptop?
As a school, we believe strongly in the educational benefits of our 1:1 Education Device Programme, which helps strengthen the important connection between learning at school and at home.
While participation in the programme is entirely optional and no student will be disadvantaged if they do not have their own device, having personal access to the latest technology – when and where it’s needed – can provide valuable opportunities to support and enhance learning.
Our school is now fully cloud-based, and we actively encourage students with their own devices to make full use of our digital resources, which are designed to complement classroom learning and help students develop essential digital skills for the future.
For more information, please visit our 1:1 Device Programme page
7. What are the rules regarding mobile phones in school?
Students are able to bring mobile phones to school but are not permitted to use them during school hours. If phones are used inappropriately, they will be confiscated and parents are required to collect them from reception at the end of the day.
8. Are lockers available in school?
We operate a ‘hire’ provision for all school lockers, which enables us to provide secure lockers in good condition for students who have requested them.
The hire cost is a one-off sum of £20 per student for their entire time at the school, and includes a padlock and key.
When your child leaves the school and returns their key, a refund of up to £10 will be given. Should your child lose their key, a replacement can be ordered at a cost of £6.
To request a locker, please collect a form from reception and return it with your payment as soon as possible. Lockers are allocated on a first come, first serve basis.
9. Can my child travel to school on the school bus?
Transport is provided by the school’s own minibuses and drivers, to and from Highley, The Hobbins and Bobbington. The Wolverhampton route includes the Cute Café, Perton, Pattingham, Penn, and Seisdon.

10. What are the meal arrangements at the school (including free school meals)?
An exciting choice of healthy and delicious food is freshly prepared on-site by our specialist caterers Innovate IFG, and served at break time and throughout the lunch period.
The full lunch menu is available in the Main Dining Hall and a range of hot and cold snacks are on offer in the Old Hall at breaktime. Pupils are also welcome to bring their own packed lunches and there’s plenty of space for everyone.

16. How will I know what kind of homework my child will be set?
Government guidelines specify that Year 7 students are expected to allocate 45 to 90 minutes per day for homework. Subject teachers will set work that is of an appropriate level and length to ensure that it makes an important contribution to the learning process.
If students need any help with homework, the Study Centre stays open for homework club until 5pm, Monday to Thursday, and 4.30pm on Fridays.
17. How do I find out about my child’s progress?
Sharing relevant information about students, through reporting and direct contact, means that parents and teachers are much better equipped to provide the most appropriate all-round support.

18. What happens if my child has Special Educational Needs?
Bridgnorth Endowed is a mainstream, inclusive school committed to helping all pupils reach their full potential by building confidence, resilience, and independence, regardless of any additional learning needs.
Within the classroom setting, we pride ourselves on successfully teaching students with a broad range of barriers to learning through a quality-first teaching approach.
We recognise that some pupils may need a short catch-up programme in literacy or numeracy, while others have more complex issues which require a longer-term approach.
Our aim is to continue to support needs identified on enrolment and to take further steps to recognise and address specific needs as they present themselves.
An overview of our approach to Special Educational Needs can be found here
