RSHE Day to Tackle Challenges and Changes

A dedicated day for RSHE was carved out of the school timetable last Thursday, to enable students from Years 7 to 9 to explore issues such as relationships, body confidence and sexual health.

Research shows that pupils who are emotionally healthy do better at school and Bridgnorth Endowed fully supports RSHE, or Relationships, Sex and Health Education, with a comprehensive programme that tackles real concerns encountered by young people today.

Age-Appropriate Approach

Topics were carefully selected and delivered in an age-appropriate way, to make sure students across all year groups would get the most out of the day and come away feeling better equipped to handle the challenges and changes they face.

Year 7, for example, took part in sessions on healthy relationships, puberty, and an introduction to consent, whilst Year 9s covered romantic relationships, pregnancy, and more complex aspects of consent.

Year 8s watching a short film about body talk conversations with friends

Body confidence was the main focus for Year 8, who looked at appearance ideals, media messages and why they should confront comparisons and avoid body talk.

Why RHSE Matters

The school’s RSE and Health Education Coordinator, Mrs Taylor, said: “RSHE education plays an increasingly significant role in keeping young people safe, healthy and prepared for the modern world.”

“At Bridgnorth Endowed, we believe it’s important to help our students to achieve their potential by supporting their wellbeing and tackling issues that can affect their ability to learn.”
