Exciting Author Visit & Book Signing Opportunity

Author Tess James-Mackey, who writes gripping thrillers for young adults

We’re thrilled to announce a fantastic opportunity for our Year 8 and Year 9 students next week. On Wednesday, we will be welcoming Shropshire-born author Tess James-Mackey to school for a special visit.

Tess is an accomplished and highly talented writer, best known for her compelling young adult thrillers. Her powerful storytelling and ability to create vivid, relatable characters have made her books a firm favourite with readers.

During her visit, students will gain a valuable insight into the world of writing, exploring her creative journey and discovering where she finds inspiration for her stories.

Her latest novel, Better Off Dead, was published in March, following the success of You Wouldn’t Catch Me Dead and Someone is Watching You – three gripping thrillers that are perfect for students who enjoy fast-paced, page-turning stories.

This exciting event has been organised by Booka Bookshop, whose school visits are designed to spark a love of reading and writing by bringing authors and stories to life in a fresh and engaging way.

📚 Pre-order your signed copy
To make the most of this special occasion, students will have the chance to have books signed by Tess at the end of the session. Books can be purchased in advance via this link: https://www.bookabookshop.co.uk/category/school-events/

💛 Support the “Pay It Forward” Scheme
Booka also runs a Pay It Forward initiative, allowing people to donate a book to be given to a student who may not otherwise have access to one. Donated books will be set aside for our school to distribute to pupils – helping to inspire a lifelong love of reading for all. If you would like to contribute, please visit: https://www.bookabookshop.co.uk/shop/pay-it-forward-school-events/

We are really looking forward to welcoming Tess and know her visit will be an inspiring and memorable experience for our students.
