With so many routes and destinations on offer, it is crucial that young people receive comprehensive and impartial guidance to help them make decisions about their futures and explore pathways that are right for them.

At 16, there are many options to consider after GCSE, including:

  • Continuing to study at a sixth form
  • Continuing to study at a college of further education
  • Applying for an apprenticeship or a similar work-based learning programme
  • Applying for a position within the forces
  • Entering the labour market with some form of continued training to comply with the raising of the participation age

Further information on post-16 options can be found on the government's National Careers Service website.
