Drama at Bridgnorth Endowed School is an exciting introduction into the world of performance that's enjoyed by many of our students.

This popular subject involves a great deal of group work and helps pupils to develop confidence, enhance creative thinking and improve their presentation capabilities.

Throughout the year, they learn a multitude of drama skills and techniques to enable them to create performances and become familiar with how to evaluate theirs and others’ work.

Outside the classroom, the department regularly organises theatre trips to see a range of productions and there's also the chance to take part in the annual show.

The school is fortunate to have its own professional 'black box' drama studio, equipped with a full lighting rig and removable staging, plus a large hall with raked seating for bigger productions.

Topics include:

  • The importance of facial expression, body language and gesture
  • Key skills, such as freeze frame and thought tracking
  • Drama techniques, including narration and devil and angel
  • Melodrama
  • Key physical and vocal skills for performing in drama
  • Scripted performances
  • Improvisation
