Design and Technology is a subject that incorporates a range of different elements, including electronics, product design and working with materials, such as metals, timbers and plastics. Pupils combine practical and technological skills with creative thinking to design and make products, whilst learning how to problem-solve as individuals and work effectively as a team. Projects focus on research skills, an introduction to tools and machines, graphics and drawing techniques, and working with hard materials. In Year 7, students complete two design and technology projects. The first is a timber ‘Blox Bot’ and the second a Bauhaus-inspired clock made from plastics. Topics include:
