Freedom to be Active and Creative
At Bridgnorth Endowed, there are a whole host of extra-curricular activities that enrich the sixth form experience, contribute to personal development and provide students with a competitive edge for their next steps.
Sixth formers have free access to the school’s leisure centre – featuring a swimming pool and fitness suite plus badminton and squash courts – as well as an Astroturf pitch, tennis courts, netball courts and extensive sports fields.
Students can join various teams and Wednesday afternoons provide opportunities to participate in recreational and competitive sport.
The performing arts are a particular strength of the school, with students and staff collaborating musically and dramatically to create outstanding annual productions. Sixth formers can also join the choir, the school orchestra or a variety of bands.
Teamwork and initiative can be developed through the popular Duke of Edinburgh’s Award scheme, which we offer up to gold level.
To broaden their horizons, students enjoy a wide range of day visits and residential trips. Foreign excursions have included World Challenge trips to Indonesia and Namibia, exchanges with our partner school in Tanzania, ski trips and sports tours to various European destinations.
Opportunities to Lead and Develop
Sixth Formers can cultivate their leadership abilities and contribute to the development of the school through a variety of responsible roles, including:
- Head boy or head girl
- Subject leaders and learning mentors who help to support younger students
- School Council leaders
- Charity event organisers
- Entrepreneurial opportunities in the ‘Taste of Tanzania’ social enterprise
- Community volunteer roles, such as placements in primary schools and care homes
