{"id":8152,"date":"2021-09-29T12:30:00","date_gmt":"2021-09-29T11:30:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.bridgnorthendowed.co.uk\/news\/?p=8152"},"modified":"2021-10-01T10:13:14","modified_gmt":"2021-10-01T09:13:14","slug":"pupils-at-bes-first-in-county-to-be-offered-covid-19-vaccine","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bridgnorthendowed.co.uk\/news\/pupils-at-bes-first-in-county-to-be-offered-covid-19-vaccine\/","title":{"rendered":"Pupils at BES First in County to be Offered Covid-19 Vaccine"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<div class=\"wp-block-image alignright\"><figure class=\"alignright size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"375\" height=\"500\" src=\"https:\/\/www.bridgnorthendowed.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/Covid-jab.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-8153\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.bridgnorthendowed.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/Covid-jab.jpg 375w, https:\/\/www.bridgnorthendowed.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/Covid-jab-225x300.jpg 225w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 375px) 100vw, 375px\" \/><figcaption>Skye McWilliams, aged 14, receiving her Covid-19 vaccine<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Pupils at Bridgnorth Endowed became the first in the county to be offered their Covid-19 vaccine at a clinic held in school on Monday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It follows as all children and young people aged 12-15 years are now being offered a single dose of the Pfizer Covid-19 vaccine after the Government accepted advice from the four UK Chief Medical Officers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The NHS in Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin is now working with the local School Aged Immunisation Service (SAIS) to deliver this vaccination programme and both teams were on-hand to vaccinate and monitor pupils during Monday&#8217;s clinic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Skye McWilliams, aged 14, who was one of the first to receive her vaccine, said: \u201cI feel great after having my Covid vaccine, I definitely have a sense of relief knowing that so many of us in school have been vaccinated and hopefully this will mean less disruption to our lessons.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Josh Gray, also 14 years old, said: \u201cI feel a lot more comfortable now that I\u2019ve been vaccinated. Last year we all missed out on so much and although we kept in touch with our friends online, that isn\u2019t the same as seeing them in person.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Michelle Murray, one of the Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin\u2019s Covid Vaccination Programme Team\u2019s Clinical Leads, said: \u201cIt was brilliant for us to be vaccinating students at Bridgnorth Endowed School today.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;I know that for many of these young people and their parents, this is a reassuring step in the right direction \u2013 and one that will ensure that young people\u2019s learning won\u2019t be impacted any further. It also means they won\u2019t miss out on spending time with their friends.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Headteacher, Mr Worth, said: \u201cI would like to thank our local School Aged Immunisation Service Team and the Covid Vaccination Programme Team for coming out today to offer our pupils a COVID vaccination in order to prevent further disruption to their studies.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Pupils at Bridgnorth Endowed became the first in the county to be offered their Covid-19 vaccine at a clinic held in school on Monday.
