The finish line is now in sight for Year 9 BES student, Sam Lewis, who is due to complete a tremendous three-month challenge within the next week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As part of his Duke of Edinburgh’s Bronze Award, the dedicated 14-year-old is running and cycling the equivalent of three marathons in three months with one goal in mind \u2013 to raise money for the British Heart Foundation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sam was eager to do something to help the charity, one year on from when his dad Craig, aged just 49, suffered a heart attack and underwent emergency heart surgery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mum, Sharon, said: “Luckily, Craig was treated and survived, but it’s thanks to the research the BHF do into heart disease that more people are surviving these events.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cHe\u2019s been slowly building up his fitness after the heart attack, so Sam and Craig started running together and it’s gone from there \u2013 they’ve been spurring each other on and increasing how far they can run each month.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So far, Sam has raised \u00a3730 but would like to give one last push to boost his target and raise as much money as possible to support the amazing charity that helps to keep hearts beating. Well done to both Sam and Craig!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
