{"id":3269,"date":"2019-09-23T14:01:54","date_gmt":"2019-09-23T13:01:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.bridgnorthendowed.co.uk\/news\/?p=3269"},"modified":"2019-10-11T12:17:10","modified_gmt":"2019-10-11T11:17:10","slug":"university-of-birmingham-trip","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bridgnorthendowed.co.uk\/news\/university-of-birmingham-trip\/","title":{"rendered":"University of Birmingham Trip"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<div class=\"wp-block-image alignright\"><figure class=\"alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"375\" height=\"500\" src=\"https:\/\/www.bridgnorthendowed.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/UoB4.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3270\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.bridgnorthendowed.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/UoB4.jpg 375w, https:\/\/www.bridgnorthendowed.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/UoB4-225x300.jpg 225w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 375px) 100vw, 375px\" \/><figcaption>The &#8216;Old Joe&#8217; Clock Tower at the University of Birmingham<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>As part of the school\u2019s ongoing careers programme, a group of 50 Year 8 students went on a visit to the University of Birmingham in Edgbaston on Wednesday 11th September.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Student Ambassadors started the day with an informative talk on UoB and gave some insight into life at the Russell Group university that dates back more than a century.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Working in small groups, our pupils enjoyed a fun game of \u2018Course Pictionary\u2019 to explore the different degrees on offer and then had the opportunity to take part in a question and answer session.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Ambassadors shared their experiences of what it\u2019s like to study there, answering questions such as how many hours they spend in lectures, whether they have jobs and what they do when they\u2019re not studying.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Next was a tour of the campus, where our pupils got to see the famous \u2018Old Joe\u2019 Clock Tower, various faculty buildings, and the excellent facilities available to students.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After lunch in the canteen, the Year 8s were asked to draw the perfect student, illustrating what a typical student looks like and the kind of day-to-day things they might do.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mohammed Ansar, Outreach Officer at UoB, said: \u201cThe University of Birmingham was honoured to host Year 8 students from Bridgnorth Endowed School.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;The level of maturity, enthusiasm and general willingness to get involved in all the activities throughout the day was great to witness.
