Year 7 students keen to support the Year 11 prom fundraiser<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

The first annual prom fundraiser is set to be a tremendous team effort as pupils from all year groups have pledged to support Year 11s in making the 2019 prom a night to remember.
<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Next Friday, between 11am and 4pm, students will take to the pool to swim 21 miles, marking the 40th anniversary of a standout sporting achievement in the school\u2019s history.
<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Back in 1979, coached by PE teacher Ron Oliver, a team of six students from Bridgnorth Endowed School, aged between 12 and 15 years-old, braved the perilous swim across the English Channel.
<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Battling the elements and the tide, they recorded a time of 13 hours 34 minutes, which turned out to be the fastest junior relay crossing that year and led to them winning the Lada Trophy.
<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This year, the House Captains wanted to recreate this historic challenge in a bid to raise funds for their prom, and suggested getting all year groups involved in the 1320-length relay swim.
<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The whole school has rallied around the House Captains, with swimmers from Years 7 to 11 taking part and even some members of staff dusting off their speedos to support them. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Year 7 student, Hannah Williamson, comments: “I’m really looking forward to helping raise funds for the Year 11 Prom \u2013 it’s such a landmark event.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tilly Davidson, also from Year 7, adds: “I’m supporting the Year 11s because I want them to have a great time at their prom as they deserve it.”
<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Now they need all the help they can get to raise funds to make this highly-anticipated milestone event a huge success.
