{"id":1875,"date":"2019-03-06T10:24:21","date_gmt":"2019-03-06T10:24:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.bridgnorthendowed.co.uk\/news\/?p=1875"},"modified":"2019-07-15T14:05:15","modified_gmt":"2019-07-15T13:05:15","slug":"mollie-scoops-international-sports-award","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bridgnorthendowed.co.uk\/news\/mollie-scoops-international-sports-award\/","title":{"rendered":"Mollie Scoops International Sports Award"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<div class=\"wp-block-image alignright\"><figure class=\"alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"464\" height=\"321\" src=\"https:\/\/www.bridgnorthendowed.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/Mollie_receives_award.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1882\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.bridgnorthendowed.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/Mollie_receives_award.jpg 464w, https:\/\/www.bridgnorthendowed.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/Mollie_receives_award-300x208.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 464px) 100vw, 464px\" \/><figcaption>Mollie \u2013 winner of a John Beswick International Award for representing England in rounders<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>A Bridgnorth Endowed School Year 11 student has been recognised at an awards ceremony for talented young people in Shropshire that have represented their country in sport over the past year.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mollie Penny, who was selected to play for Rounders England\u2019s Under 16s squad, was invited to attend the John Beswick International Awards Evening held at Shirehall in Shrewsbury on Tuesday 26th February.  <br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She received her award from guest of honour and GB Judo athlete, Tom Davis, after Master of Ceremonies, Alan Penton, read out Mollie\u2019s many impressive sporting achievements.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She has represented her country in 24 games, winning 23, and is now the fifth highest scorer, with a total of 35 rounders during the season. <br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>While competing in Burnley last June, Mollie was presented with the Most Valuable Player Award, and she has been given the role of Vice Captain for the 2019 season.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During the event, Mollie was amongst Shropshire&#8217;s finest international athletes, with students from schools around the county, including Thomas Telford, Shrewsbury School and Moreton Hall, being honoured for a wide range of sports.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>PE teacher, Mrs Bills-Brown, who suggested that Mollie enter for the award, comments: \u201cThis is a great achievement and it\u2019s a pleasure to see Mollie recognised for all the hard work and commitment to her chosen sport.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A Bridgnorth Endowed School Year 11 student has been recognised at an awards ceremony for talented young people in Shropshire that have represented their country in sport over the past year.
