His talk showed just how life-changing scientific research can be.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Professor Jim Al-Khalili<\/strong>, Professor of Physics at the University of Surrey, took students on a thought-provoking journey through Einstein\u2019s theories of special and general relativity, explaining how time travel is theoretically possible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Dr Emma Chapman<\/strong>, a Royal Society Research Fellow at the University of Nottingham, explored the exciting possibility of humans travelling to the Moon and even Mars within the next 10 to 20 years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Dr Tim Gabriel<\/strong>, Lecturer in Chemical Sciences at Manchester Metropolitan University, gave students a glimpse into his work in electrochemistry, nanostructure fabrication and advanced electrode materials, highlighting how chemistry drives innovation in modern technology.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A standout talk came from <strong>Professor Gilly Forrester<\/strong>, Professor of Evolutionary and Developmental Psychology. With the help of two brave teachers \u2013 one singing <em>Twinkle Twinkle Little Star<\/em> and the other performing an interpretative dance \u2013 she demonstrated how thermal imaging shows that our noses actually become colder when we\u2019re stressed. Her fascinating research uses human stress responses to better understand and support primates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The trip was designed to show our top science students the huge range of exciting careers available in STEM.
